WCAAF’s main control shall be handled at our main location, the Aerial Dance Theater in Costa Mesa, California. The following guidelines have been put in place for the WCAAF:
- Satellite locations shall comprise of: Training Facilities Used by Participants, Workshop Instructor’s Training space, Media and Content Moderators and others (to be identified)
- Your internet speed should be around 25+ Mbps speeds in order to transmit clearly and avoid lagging especially during the collaborative group performance recording
- When attending the opening and closing events or when participating at any networking/ social function roundtable or attending the scholarship audition, a tablet, Ipad or a laptop are sufficient to use, however if you have a recently released mobile device like the Samsung S10 or iPhone 11 (or higher model), the quality of the picture dramatically changes the output and is highly recommended for use when attending workshops or participating in the collaborative group act for the closing concert.
- An HD camera set-up with wi-fi enabled connection for livestream participation is also another alternative for virtual participation.
- For steady capturing, Tri-Pod is highly recommended.
- The satellite’s representative shall act as the moderator in order to coordinate the group recordation of livestreamed show.
- Each satellite location is required to have the proper insurance coverage for the activities of the participant/s. Said insurance shall cover among others, aerial arts training with height over 16 feet for Novice or over 20 feet if participant/s is in the Amateur to Pro-level.
- No audience is allowed in both the Main and Satellite locations.
- Virtual training will be scheduled on Nov. 11 for anyone who needs it.
- Pre-recorded competition routine should follow all parameters relating to the routine guidelines.
- Submitted video should be recorded, at the very least, in HD (High Definition Resolution) and also in landscape orientation.
- Plan the recordation date. Give yourself time to set-up your camera. Make sure that you are covering the entire act without cutting any body part. To avoid a 5-10 point deduction, the video should start either as follows:
- Contestant on the ground if there is movement e.g. dance or acrobatics; OR
- Contestant on the ground starting to prep for climb or wrap
- Make sure to start and end the recording at the very beginning of the act until the end of your competition routine. Do not videotape portions of your act. We will not accept a video that has been edited.
- Clearly check the lighting contrast and the color choice of your costume to avoid camouflage effect.
- When scheduling the recordation of each attendee’s competition act, the satellite facility should space out the arrivals to exercise social distancing, especially if a satellite location has more than three (3) participant/ contestant.
- At workshops, unless the attendee is a semi-pro or professional, a supervising person should be present to ensure safety execution. At no instance will an attendee be alone at any satellite facility during any event attended at the WCAAF.
- Social Distancing/ COVID-19 Protocol: Local and state recommendations must be adhered to in situations where there are people coming from several household or pod during videotaping or workshops
- Sanitizing stations need to be provided by each satellite location.
- Inspection of equipment shall be performed during the registration and before the use of this to ensure that any shared apparatus is disinfected.
