Application for Choreography Showcase

The Choreography showcase is catered for mostly for DUO or SMALL GROUP performance acts.  The act addresses the creative substance/ message of the piece, with special attention to the execution, fluidity, connectivity to the audience and artistry of the performers. Props are welcome. If you are not sure if you would like to participate based on the merits of the piece, you may submit a private link via email with the uncut video of the piece.

Please know that the Choreography Showcase is NOT a competition and is open to all choreographers.  We have limited spots, and therefore we encourage you to submit early to reserve your spot.

Application Fee:  $75./participant
For Duo or Small Group submissions.
Presentation of your work can either be pre-recorded or livestreamed.

Very Important: Each participant will be asked to provide a statement relating to COVID-19 social distancing practice by all members of the group, e.g. “bubble” team, pre-screening practices, handwashing, temperature taking, mask wearing and more.

NOTE:  Checks are not allowed.  Refunds (less associated fees) are only allowed within 2 weeks of purchase or 21 days prior to the festival date (whichever is earlier).  There are NO PARTIAL REFUNDS. Technical Questionnaire
Before completing this application, please consult with your choreographer regarding the layout of rigging points to see if we can rig your act according to the layout we will have for that evening.
Please note that if you bring our own, we will attach this to the hoist. For tissu, when using the hoist, the vertical space is approximately a foot shorter than the in-house tissu that will already be rigged.

Duo/Group Biography

All narrative Bio should be kept within 50 words or less for individual entrants. ***You may NOT use the bio to promote a business or event. We reserve the right to edit content as needed.
For Group Entrants (two or more), keep in mind the above technical photo specifications. The Bio and Photo should be combined into one. You are allowed no more than 100 words. Talk more about the group rather than the individuals in the group, such as how you came together; what inspires your team to participate; and what are your shared visions.

We prefer to receive close up photo of the contestant rather than full body shot to make it more effective when printed in the program. Submit images in JPEG format, at least 300 dpi and sized at no smaller than 2” x 2”. Media Release Form

I understand that photographers and/or media/ production crews may sometimes be
present photographing or filming classes, rehearsals, coaching sessions, workshops or presentations.
I give my permission for resulting photographs and/or television/film footage, which may include myself/my child to be used by Aerial Arts America and it agents, sponsors, and associates, including the Ruby Karen Project for promotional purposes on television, newspapers, cyberspace, programs, magazines, or any other media.

I grant to Aerial Arts America (also known as “AAA”), the right to take photographs of me in connection with the above-identified event. I authorize “AAA”, its assigns and transferees, to copyright, use, and publish the same in print and/or electronically.

I agree that “AAA” may use such photographs and other forms of media recorded of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, web content, fundraising and other projects of the “AAA” and its affiliated organizations, including its sponsors.

Participant Agreement, Release and Assumption of Risk

In consideration of the services of American Aerial Arts Institute DBA Aerial Arts America and United World Enterprise, Inc., their agents, owners, officers, volunteers, participants, employees, and all other persons or entities acting in any capacity on their behalf (hereinafter collectively referred to as \”AAA\”), I hereby agree to release, indemnify, and discharge \”AAA\”, on behalf of myself, my spouse, my children, my parents, my heirs, assigns, personal representative and estate as follows:

1. I acknowledge that my participation in aerial arts activities entails known and unanticipated risks that could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis, death, or damage to myself, to property, or to third parties. I understand that such risks simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity.

The risks include, among other things: slips and falls; falling from equipment; collision with fixed objects or people; rope burns; muscular strains and tears, fractured bones, bruises, cuts, organ damage, nerve damage, head, neck and back injuries; scratches, bruises, sprains, lacerations, or even more severe life threatening hazards; psychological damage; dehydration; permanent disability; the possibility of eye damage or loss of hearing; the failure to work out safely or within one’s own ability or within designated area; the negligence of other participants or persons who may be present; my own physical condition, and the physical exertion associated with this activity; traveling to and from shows, meets or exhibitions raises the possibility of any manner of transportation accidents.

Furthermore, “AAA” employees have difficult jobs to perform. They seek safety, but they are not infallible. They might be unaware of a participant\’s fitness or abilities. They may give incomplete warnings or instructions, and the equipment being used might malfunction.

2. I expressly agree and promise to accept and assume all of the risks existing in this activity. My participation in this activity is purely voluntary, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks.

3. I hereby voluntarily release, forever discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless “AAA” from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action, which are in any way connected with my participation in this activity or my use of “AAA”’s equipment or facilities, including any such claims which allege negligent acts or omissions of “AAA”.

4. Should “AAA” or anyone acting on their behalf, be required to incur attorney\’s fees and costs to enforce this agreement, I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless for all such fees and costs.

5. I certify that I have adequate insurance to cover any injury or damage I may cause or suffer while participating, or else I agree to bear the costs of such injury or damage myself. I further certify that I am willing to assume the risk of any medical or physical condition I may have.

6. In the event that I file a lawsuit against “AAA”, I agree to do so solely in the state of California, and I further agree that the substantive law of that state shall apply in that action without regard to the conflict of law rules of that state. I agree that if any portion of this agreement is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.

By signing this document, I acknowledge that if anyone is hurt or property is damaged during my participation in this activity, I may be found by a court of law to have waived my right to maintain a lawsuit against “AAA” on the basis of any claim from which I have released them herein.
